- Several L.A.-area youth surf camps and schools said business is down this summer because parents are worried about toxins from the Palisades fire.
- Surf camp instructors noted that authorities have said the waters in Santa Monica Bay and elsewhere are safe, but some parents remain fretful.
The wave is all anger and elegance. Shaped like a cursive C, it hurtles toward the Santa Monica shore.
